This weekend was all about new and familiar experiences!
We left our boat docked in Charleston, SC and traveled the 6 hours to Pearisburg, VA (the kind of place where deer really do hang out in the backyards). Niece MaryAnn married a lovely boy named Josh Fisher. It turned out to be the coldest weekend ever (no, really!) with temps between the 30’s and 40’s (it doesn't get colder than that, does it???). Luckily, we still own a few sweaters which we recovered from their mothball wrapping in the bilge.
We stayed with brother Andy (wife Brenda) along with brother Bobby (wife Darla). For those of you who don’t know this family, it means all the daughters-in-law were together. What did we three talk about? . . . I’ll never tell (wink, wink). Seriously, it was a great visit with brother bonding and in-law bonding, not to mention the kid bonding with cousins Megan, Madison and Paige. Andy and Brenda have a gorgeous home and we were glad to have such a great place to stay.
The wedding was charming: the bridesmaids were elegant, the groomsmen were stiff in their unfamiliar suits, and the bride was a beauty. The reception was filled with great music, jello shots (that was a new one on me!), and a booty shaking DJ partner who, despite not knowing a soul at the wedding, took the opportunity to shake her groove thang (how old was she anyway???). Yes, fun was had by all!
The rare weekend brought all five kids, their children, and Gee and Papa all together up until the bitter(ly cold!) end with breakfast on Sunday morning. Don’t know when we’ll all be together again. Anyone up for another party at the Country Club in January?!?!? Barb? Mary? Anyone???
P.S. Hope this works for you Beth! :-)
