It's official! We have been to the friendliest city ever . . . Elizabeth City, NC, "The Harbour of Hospitality." It was like we were rock stars - The Mayor, the Director of Tourism, and scores of others came by to welcome us, ask us about our travels, and offer help if we needed anything (apparently, not much goes on in ECity). We attended the weekend activities including an Arts Festival and the Taste of the Albermarle (local chefs offered their wares for tasting). There was a FREE museum, a FREE children's science center, a FREE ride to the grocery store offered by the store, and FREE dockage (see why Nick liked it? tee hee). Seriously, it's the kind of place you don't think exists anymore . . . a place where people pass each other on the street, smile and say "Hi" (ahh for the good ole days).
Our trip across the Albermarle Sound was, despite 2-3 foot waves on our beam, not too bad (which means the counter stays at 44 - wahoo - why oh why didn't Nick fix our stabilizers months ago?!?!?!).
We're currently anchored in the Outer Banks of North Carolina anxiously waiting to spend a fun Labor Day weekend with our friends Terri, Patton and their children Natalie and Caroline.
Life is good at the end of an anchor!
