Here in Tavernier

Eileen has been talking about seeing crystal, clear water since we left St. Pete; we have finally found some here in Tavernier Key. Rewind . . . on Tuesday, we left Key West and headed to Marathon Yacht Club where they earned the “friendliest yacht club” award. We pulled in to four deck hands grabbing our lines, none of whom worked at the club, and all of whom were just nice people from other clubs. We were, yet again, rock stars - everyone chatting and just being oh so nice. We left MYC yesterday and headed further north toward Tavernier with a short, snorkeling stop at “Hen and Chickens.” Yes, you read that right. It’s a spectacular reef that, from the air, looks like a mother hen with all her chickens around her (I know . . . just go with it). Here in Tavernier, the water is so clear, we were afraid to take the boat in because it looks like it’s only a couple of feet deep when it’s actually 10 feet. Stunning!
