Dry Tortugas . . . or Dry Heaves

April 30, under windy conditions, all three boats are headed south on the ICW. At Venice, the brave Blue Skies headed outside on a course for the Dry Tortugas. Know Agenda and Lady Enna stay inside . . . we're fair weather boaters and not interested in beating our way for the next 24 hours. Blue Skies kept us apprised of the waves and wind before they're out of range. We made the right call - they report waves 4-5and increasing and winds 18-20knots. We anchored for the night in Pelican Bay in Charlotte Harbor.

The next day, it was still windy and we decided to take a little day trip to Boca Grande. The place where millionaires vacation, it's a sleepy, yet elegant golf cart community. We had lunch, ice cream (yum!) and happy hour back in the Bay together.

Our fair weather window finally opened, and we decided to made a break for the Tortugas. After leaving Charlotte Harbor, we hit 2-4 foot rolling waves and Ang is the first to feel yucky in the waves (no heaving yet though). Soon after, Nicholas gives up his lunch, Eileen falls next, then Ang and then Cesar (poor little kitty). Nick was the only one unscathed by the rollers. Thankfully, we made the call to turn into Sannibel area where we are now anchored in Ft. Meyers Beach. The Dry Heaves, er, Tortugas is out. Time to do some research - I'm sure there's a yacht club nearby somewhere.

Life is good at the end of an anchor!
