Our journey from the Keys to Ft. Lauderdale was largely uneventful . . . except for that little incident where I thought we were all going to die! So we're traveling outside and a storm pops up over Miami, and it looked pretty from a distance. This "little storm" decided to join us in the ocean and whip up the waves and our boat! At one point, the waves were moving our stern one way and the wind decided to push us the same way . . . things all over the boat were crashing around (and I do a pretty good job of stowing away) and I was telling the kids, "Oh, don't worry, everything's fine, just a little storm" while inside I was mentally writing my will! (Mom, as you're reading this and freaking out, remember that hyperbole and I are best friends!!!) Thanks to Nick's superb captainship, we survived. Whew!
After the storm, we pull into the Lauderdale Yacht Club. Lovely place! I had to fly back to Tampa for work (I live 30 minutes away for 11 years and the one time we take our boat out, I have to go back to work!) but the kids enjoyed lots of playing in the pool and dinner at the club (pinkies up dahlings!). Mega-Land is filled with 130 footer after 150 footer next to $10mil home after $20mil home. Holy-schmoly!
Leaving Ft. Lauderdale, we are now headed up to Stuart, FL where we'll stay for a few days and get our air conditioning looked at and, hopefully, hook up with my cousin Pam, her kids, and my aunt/uncle.
For those of you from Canterbury . . . homeschool is going well! We do a little work each day and it doesn't take much to get them down and focused. Of course we've only been at it for 11 days. ;-)
Life is good on the end of an anchor!
