Here's an interesting story . . . we had to get from Spanish Wells (one of the few Bahamian islands to have a predominately caucasion population) to Dunmore which is a trek around Harbor Island, Eleuthra. The most direct route is also the most treachorous. The best way to navigate through it is to hire a local to pilot your boat. We hired Woody who claims to have made the trip 10,000 times. He gave us a bit of a tour which included Preacher's Cave (a natural cave with a sculpture of a lady standing vigil at the entrance) and Indian Rock (another natural scultpure of the profile of a man's face). We criss-crossed through the Devil's Backbone of rocks, shallows, and narrow passages. The scenary was absolutely gorgeous - the kids and I enjoyed it, but Nick was on pins and needles paying attention to the boat we were following with Woody aboard. At the end of the journey, Woody treated us to his wife's famous carrot cake and some Bimini bread (yummy!).
Join Nick, Angela, Nicholas and Eileen on our boating journey as we cruise the waters of U.S. and the Bahamas aboard our beautiful 56' Matthews MY "Lady Enna." We're taking this extended journey to expand education out of the confines of a classroom, to focus on our family, and to take advantage of this great way of life!
