Last Leg (sigh!)

Left Venice this morning at 6:45 a.m. and are traveling "outside" today on calm seas for the six hours it will take us to reach the yacht club . . . home. Mixed emotions by the crew: we're thrilled to see our friends and be in familiar places, but we're sad to see this first "big boat trip" come to an end. Yes, there will be more, but as our first, this one has been special.

We have seen such beautiful sights, visited incredible places, met extraordinary people. We have bonded even more closely as a family. We have learned the practical geography, history, and cruising but more importantly, we have learned more about ourselves and what we can accomplish together. Nicholas loves the responsibility of contributing and has flourished. Eileen is always ready to help with her continual happy nature. Nick is the strength and solidity that keeps us going . . . together.

Just prior to this last leg, we had guests aboard for the crossing of the Okeechobee Waterway taking us from the east to the west coast. Gee and Papa joined us for three days - we showed the calm beauty of being underway as well as the power of water while we pushed through 3-5 footers crossing the lake. They survived and we all had a great time together.

After six months, 2,400 gallons of fuel, and over 3,300 miles traversed, we are close to home. I write this with some finality, but rest assured, it's only the last of the first. The Bahamas are calling . . . OR if we take a left, we'll be in Mexico by tomorrow . . . hmmmmmm . . .
